When you think of God, do you think of God as smiling toward you, or frowning? Is he a God who needs to be won over by you before he will look to you with love and affection? We begin the year by looking together at the love of God from 1 John 4.

This week we have a one-off sermon from 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”These eleven words are dynamite, utterly life-transforming.

Today we complete our mini series on Isaiah 9:1-7, looking at Isaiah’s amazing prophecy of the coming of Jesus, who He would be, and what he would do.

He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom,establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Today we begin a three-week series, including Christmas Day, from Isaiah 9 and the prophet’s remarkable prediction of the coming of Christ. Today’s passage, culminating with “the government will be on his shoulders,” is both wonderful fraught with very confronting implications.
